Johns Island Rural Housing

Looking for low income, affordable housing? Welcome to Johns Island Rural Housing, where our desire is to provide the highest quality living environment possible for our residents.  Our staff consist of a Director of Housing, Assistant Director/Secretary, Resident Service Coordinator and three maintenance employees.

John Island Rural Housing Complex was developed in 1980 to provide safe, affordable housing for low income elderly and disabled adults in exchange for rental payments.  The complex was developed by Sea Island Comprehensive Health Care Corporation’s  subsidiary Sea Island Community Development Fund, Inc.

The 88 units of housing is a Section 202/8 Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program which provides low income housing for persons sixty two years of age or older and persons with disabilities.  Our 88 units consist of one and two bedroom apartments and a community room for recreation. Each resident is entitled to the exclusive use and enjoyment of his/her apartment in a peaceful, quiet and private environment.  We provide a safe and easy living environment for seniors and disabled individuals who can still live independently and enjoy engaging in social activities.
